The work of photographers Salam Dahbour and Missy Loewe is truly a marriage of art and technology.  Since meeting in 1997, the two have merged their specialties into one business: photography and visual arts with a digital and high tech backbone.  Salam began his career as a computer software engineer in 1988, while Missy was a photographer.  As technology became more important for photographers, they found themselves problem solving for her projects, and putting the camera in his hands more and more. 

Today, they are both leaders in Capitol Arts Network, a Maryland nonprofit which produces gallery shows, and promotes arts and art business skills throughout the DC metro area, while Salam maintains his software engineering career and she is the academic dean of the Washington School of Photography.  They formed DoubleShot Studio in 2004 as their client base expanded.

Salam’s photography has won various awards in gallery shows, including one first place in a mid-Atlantic regional show.  He is a member of Baltimore’s Art Exposure, and his clients have included individuals as well as the Congressional Blues Festival and the Montgomery County SPCA.  His website and software work have also won top awards from publications and websites around the world.

Missy’s client list has included the Miss America Organization, Congressman Bill Thomas, Greyhound Buslines, and countless small businesses.  Her work can be found on the walls of museums, in private collections, and in books and magazines.  As the academic dean of the Washington School of Photography and President of Capitol Arts Network, she has provided program design, arts promotion, and business advice to hundreds of artists.  Her favorite work has become the twice-yearly trips to Europe for her stock agency shoots, and working on book projects with authors as a close team.

Salam and Missy have recently completed several fine-art poster prints for the State Art project.  They traveled to every corner of Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, DC, photographing signs, buildings, and other locations with the name of each respective state/city.  You can see their work and order a print from LookingForMaryland.com and LookingForWashingtonDC.com.  You can also see prints from the rest of our great country at the State Art project.  In their “Looking for…” experiences, each new place became their favorite place, but they found a renewed love for Baltimore, a new appreciation for Dover, Delaware, and saw parts of DC which native Salam had never seen before!

Salam and Missy live in Gaithersburg, Maryland with their Border Collie Bandit and cats Mac, Pumpkin, Kibby, and Jelly .
